Design for me to is to make beautiful objects.
I enjoy being surrounded by beautiful things, which is reflected in my work, because it’s the same experience I want to recreate for others. It is also one of the reasons why I design. The designs I create have to be able to stand still and alone as well as stand strong in an environment with other objects. I enjoy two types of designs, the one that has the every day object functionality, and the object that is only used on special occasions or not at all. My goal is to make objects that provide a visual pleasure to the viewer and in the next instance appeal to them in a such a way where they feel a connection made between them and the piece.
My design philosophy involves laying out a system or path awareness; which is made to be satisfying and pleasurable. This experience happens as a visual stimulation and as a relationship that is built with the use of the design. This connection that is made between human and object is one of the main inspirations behind my process. I arrange the pieces in charming compositions with a conscious effort to make them pleasurable. One of my biggest influences is other great designs out there in the world ranging from native to couture cultures. I feel challenged by my inspirations, and it’s important for me to be able to live up to that level of professionalism and craftsmanship because it propels my mind and my spirit.
Design is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life, from the conceptualization phase, the creation process, the refinement of the object to the satisfaction of the finished piece.
